About Stella Quinn

Stella Quinn writes contemporary rural fiction that is warm-hearted and filled with characters you want to be best friends with. Her stories are about everyday people who are struggling to find their sense of self worth after dark times have brought them down, and they are about everyday life in all its wonderful (and woeful) stages. She's fond of adding a dog or two (or a kangaroo), and a townful of memorable meddlers, and she loves a research travel trip.
She has six novels published by Harper Collins HQ Fiction imprint. She has two more under contract that she is currently working on which involve research trips to Cloncurry, Winton, Longreach and, between wet seasons, Croydon.
She also writes Christmas stories for Harper Collins HQ Fiction's annual anthologies, including A Country Vet Christmas (2023), A Country Farm Christmas (2024), A Country Practice Christmas (2025) and A Country Pub Christmas (2026).
Stella's work has won awards within the romance writing community and beyond, including a coveted Romantic Book of the Year award in 2025. She shortlisted in the ASA/ HQ Commercial Fiction Award in 2020, which marked the beginning of her publication deal with Harper Collins, and her novel The Vet from Snowy River has been voted as one of Better Readings Top 100 books.
She lives in South East Queensland currently, but has lived in the UK, Hong Kong, and Papua New Guinea. Now that her kids are grown, when she's not writing, she spends her time attending to a shadehouse full of orchids and a standoffish Border Terrier cross.
Under a different name, she has been the recipient of a mentorship in writing for middle grade at Varuna, awarded by Affirm Press, and she has been a finalist in the Ampersand Prize for children's fiction, awarded by Hardie Grant Egmont. She has also won the Scarlet Stiletto's Domestic Malice award for a crime story, with the prize sponsored by Kerry Greenwood, author of the marvelous Phryne Fisher mystery series.
